Last Sunday tens of thousands of Colombians and Venezuelans met under the Simon Bolivar bridge that joins their two countries. There they sang and danced to the music of Juanes, Carlos Vives, Miguel Bose, Alejandro Sanz, Juan Luis Guerra and other artists who had come together to sing for “Peace without Borders”. The concert was conceived and planned by Juanes, who had come up with the idea for a peace concert less than a week earlier. The idea started to become reality when Juanes and his agent began emailing friends, telling them of the concert and asking them to participate. One by one the replies came back, saying they would be there. “Para allá voy, hermano.” replied Alejandro Sanz. You can read more about the planning of the concert here (in Spanish).
I would have loved to have been there.
Accordions usually drive me cray, but for some reason I love them in vallenatos. And in keeping with the spirit of this concert, listen to Carlos Vives’ Amor Latino.
